Purpose & Scope
 

The purpose of this document is to define and outline what the Chart of Accounts (CoA) is, how it is used at UNSW and to provide guidance on specific accounts.
 

Definitions
 

ChartField
Component or segment of the Chart of Accounts for example "Account", "Department","Fund"
The total of all ChartFields are referred to as the Chart of Accounts
 
CSA's or Client Service Accountants
Accountants with detailed and specific knowledge of NS Financials. For NS Financials or accounting queries, CSA's should be your first point of contact.
 
FinSys
Financial Systems Department  - ( A division of Finance)
 
General Ledger
Contains all UNSW financial transactions. Information from the General Ledger is used to analyse, report and monitor the results of our business
 
NS Financials
UNSW's name for the PeopleSoft Financials System
