Committees

The Risk Management Unit provides support and assistance to University risk management committees including the following:
 
Risk Management Committee of Council
 
This Committee assists Council discharge its governance obligations in the areas of risk management, other than internal control (including fraud control, financial reporting and the audit process), noting that Council has delegated to management responsibility for managing all risks of the University and its controlled entities.
 
Terms of Reference for Risk Management Committee of Council 
 
The Risk Management Committee of Council meets on a quarterly basis to review UNSW's Risk Management Program, Insurance Program, Business Continuity Planning, ongoing significant projects and emerging risks facing  the University. 
 
Membership of the Risk Managment Committee of Council. 
 
Risk Management Advisory Group
 
A Senior-level Committee of the University established to carry out management's delegated authority to own, support, promote and lead in the management of risk at UNSW. The RMAG ensures risk management is fully aligned with cultural behaviors across UNSW in terms of clearly identifying responsibilities for risk identification across all levels in the University.

Risk Management Implementation Group
 
The purpose of the Risk Management Implementation Group (RMIG) is to support the Risk Management Advisory Group and the Risk Management Unit in the implementation of  UNSW's Risk Management Policy across UNSW and its controlled entities. The RMIG is responsible for the change management process which introduces and embeds risk management across the UNSW community.

Insurance Committee of UNSW
 
This Committee  guides the University in making strategic risk financing decisions which regard commercial insurance.  The procurement of  commercial insurance is a noteworthy expense of UNSW, a significant component of  the University's Total Cost of Risk. The Committee meets regularly to establish and update the Insurance Strategy for UNSW, participate in the insurance broker selection process and to review the UNSW insurance program.

UNSW Level 1 OHS Committee
The Risk Management Unit supports the Level 1 OHS Committee of UNSW through participation at Committee meetings. The RMU provides data and advice to the Level 1 Committee on enterprise and strategic risk issues providing regular reports on University losses and trends.
