Financial Replanning Post Award

It is well understood that funding allocated by the large research funding bodies (National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and the Australian Research Council (ARC)) can be lower than the initial amount applied for.

As per the Grants Management Office project management process, it is important that researchers are aware of this prior to original application and to be prepared for replanning their project.

When the award granted is less than the application, the Chief Investigator is responsible for replanning the research outcomes and financials in line with the new funding.  Replanning should also take into account a review of expense categories in line with sponsor reporting requirements.  This is where more than one line of expenditure categories is required by the sponsor.
