Australia's University Procurement Hub

UNSW is one of 17 Australian Universities participating in the University Procurement Hub (UPH)

The UPH is a multi-university collective approach to procurement changing how universities source and purchase goods and services.

It provides the opportunity for universities to collaborate, to build collective purchasing power and to build efficiencies by:

  • Aggregating collective spend via the acquisition of certain goods and services - costs are better managed, delivering economies of scale
  • Improving process efficiencies – providing a single point for tendering, sourcing and selection
  • Increasing the ability to analyse expenditure – providing information to make better purchasing decisions.

The UPH is an initiative of AUSFOG (the Australian University Senior Finance Officers Group) and is being run by Accenture - a global consulting company who are providing procurement expertise across a range of purchasing categories.

Ensuring streamlined processes and efficient expenditure makes a significant contribution to the overall financial health of the university, freeing up resources to support the university’s strategy and global competitiveness.

The Rollout

The rollout will be in four waves across a number of categories. Much work goes into assessing the University’s requirements when analysing the category spend and supplier analysis. The first wave is currently underway with Office Stationery being close to completion.
