How do I become a supplier?
The University values its supplier relationships and seeks to build these with a wide range of companies and individuals to deliver mutual benefits.
We operate under four key principles: value for money, probity and equity, risk management and fit for purpose. To become a supplier for UNSW, there are two ways this can be done:
There are specific procurement procedures the University has in place, one being registration for tender. For your chance to tender, all you have to do is register on our online tender site and nominate the category of goods or services you wish to supply. When we open a tender in your selected category you will be invited to participate.
Through the tender site can also view all current UNSW ongoing tender processes.
The procurement method and process for each tender may vary depending on its level of risk, value and time scale, to avoid creating unnecessary costs for suppliers and the University. This method may be in the form for a Request for Quotation (RFQ), Request for Proposal (RFP) or Request for Tender (RFT).
If you are successful you will be created as vendor and placed on the preferred suppliers list accessible to UNSW buyers and staff.
As well as the tender process and registration, you could be approached independently by a UNSW staff member to provide a quote for goods and/or services UNSW’s procurement process is as follows: :
- $0-$3,000 – No quote required
- $3,000-$30,000 (1 quote or tender)
- $30,000-$250,000 (3 quotes or tender)
- $250,000 (Open Tender)
If you are selected to provide goods and services you will be created as a vendor in the financial system. See UNSW standard terms and conditions for reference.
You may also be invited to be a pre-qualified supplier as part of a Panel Arrangement and have an agreement put in place. As a pre-qualified supplier you will only be contacted if a need arises at UNSW for your goods or services. Note that if you become a pre-qualified supplier, you should keep annual contact with Procurement to ensure your agreement stays viable.
